I represent clients at the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal. Over twenty years of experience provides me with comfort and confidence in the courtroom, as well as clear insight into what judges want to hear and how they wish to hear it. In a court process, I argue forcefully while always keeping in mind the financial and emotional cost to my client.
It is important to know that over 95% of family law court cases settle prior to a final determination from a judge. A reasonable settlement is almost always a better outcome.
In some cases, one or both parties are too far apart in their perspectives to come to a settlement, even with the help of lawyers or mediators. In this context, the case will come before a judge, who will order a resolution. While it is a time consuming and costly process, a trial does allow for a final solution when other approaches are not successful.
