One approach to resolving family law disputes is for each party to simply hire lawyers to negotiate a resolution on their behalf. Even when parties are engaged in mediation or court, lawyers always need to negotiate for their clients.
Aside from over twenty years experience negotiating for clients, I have a keen interest in theories underlying the practice. I have training in various forms of negotiation, including interest based negotiation and bargaining.
In order to arrive at the best possible outcome that reflects your needs and desires, it is critical that you are not only in consultation with your lawyer, but intimately involved in the negotiation process. When negotiating on a client’s behalf, I believe in keeping close communication with my clients and ensuring that they are part of every step, so that they can make the best decisions.
